The Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, Henry Kweku Hayfron has cautioned traders against selling their wares at cut-throat prices, thereby cheating buyers. The MCE expressed concern about the rising prices of commodities in the country even though the government had managed to stabilize the cedi against the foreign currencies and inflation going down considerably. He gave the caution at a meeting with the Central Regional executives of the Zongo Caucus of the National Democratic congress (NDC) at Saltpond. The executives were in the municipality to re-organise supporters of the party living in the Zongos for effective campaign for the 2012 general elections. Mr Hayfron intimated that it had come to his notice that some dealers in petroleum products were selling a gallon of Kerosene for GHc 12.00 instead of GHc 4.10. He cautioned those who were in that illegal business to stop it immediately before any of them was caught. "Anyone caught in that business will face the full rigours of the law irrespective of his or her party lineage", he stressed. The MCE pointed out that though the government expected traders to sell their wares according to their conscience, it would not look on unconcerned for them to be amassing undeserved wealth at the expense of their fellow citizens. Mr Hayfron also cautioned health service providers under the National Health Insurance Scheme who had been refusing services to NHIS card bearers to stop it as it would not encourage people to register with the scheme.
