Tourism Minister Juliana Azumah has dismissed calls for the shut down of the Brand Ghana office.
Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper Ben Ephson has criticized and called for the scrapping of the newly established office responsible for re-branding the country, saying they are duplicating the work of the Millennium Development Authority (MDA).
He cites press statements issued by the Brand Ghana Office wishing the Black Stars luck at the African Cup of Nations.
But Mrs Azumah says it is too early for the four-month old office to receive such a criticism.
“Whatever is the purpose... it has been put there I believe if we all put our minds together, we can come out with a good branding for Ghana,” Mrs Azumah said.
She said Brand Ghana Office is working hard to plan a great brand for the country.
The Office was charged with the responsibility of defining the country’s identity and to change attitudes and behaviours.
Chief Executive of Brand Ghana Mr Mathias Akotia in an earlier interview with Joy News said conscious management of a country’s identity and its communication is needed to gain international recognition as well as construct a favourable national image.
