Tottenham have been blocked in their move to reduce the size of the Wembley pitch - to match the dimensions of White Hart Lane.
The Premier League have vetoed the proposal as it breaches a rule standardising pitch sizes, according to the Times.
Only clubs who are restricted by space available in their grounds are allowed to have alternative dimensions, including Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool
Tottenham are in the final stages of planning for their season at Wembley with their famous old ground now almost completely demolished to make way for the new 61,559 stadium.
They had hoped to give their players a helping hand by replicating the home conditions of White Hart Lane - the second smallest pitch in the league. But they will now play on the biggest pitch in the league.
Spurs have a diabolical record at the national stadium, they won only one of the five matches they played there in Europe and in the FA Cup last season.
Before last season, the previous game they won there was the 2008 League Cup final, losing all four matches at Wembley after that.
White Hart Lane was a fortress for them last season, they didn’t lose a single match as they finished second for the first time since the 1960s.
