Management of Total Ghana, a leading oil marketing company in the country, on Wednesday, commissioned the company’s refurbished Pig Farm fuel station at a ceremony in Accra.
The branch has now been upgraded to an advanced level status that can give exciting experience to customers.
The station now has an ultra-modern service centre while retail shops such as Simbisa, Automatic Teller Machine, Chicken Inn, Vida Café, Ad Pharma and Vulco.
The ATM and pharmacy will ensure customers no longer drive to nearby places to shop.
Also, to ensure constant and sustainable power supply, the company has installed a solar panel to provide solar energy at the new upgraded branch.
This is the 11th solar-powered service station which has been added to the network of over 250 outlets across the country.
The company is currently working towards a plan to solarise at least 50% of the network station in the next five years.
Speaking during the commissioning, Managing Director of Total Ghana, Mr Eric Fancini, said the refurbished station is strategically located to provide convenient, effective fuelling and shopping needs to both motoring public residents in the community.
"Most importantly, this station is fully solar-powered because as a responsible energy major, we are totally committed to the development of renewable energy in Ghana. And we are also committed to innovation, so we can stay ahead of the competition and continue satisfying our customers' needs," he said.
He added that his company has been providing energy solutions to the Ghanaian market for almost 70 years.
According to the MD, the company received two awards and placed 7th in the Ghana Club 100 rankings.
The company also received the Off-Grid Energy Solution of the Year at the Ghana Energy Awards.
Mr Francini promised customers of the company's continuous provision of top-of-range products and exceptional retail experience at their service stations with Excellium fuels, top quality lubricants and car care products, lube bay services and car wash.
“Total will continue to play its part in growing the economy, environmentally and financially, whilst actively developing and creating business opportunities for all,” said Mr Eric Fancini.
The Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPFF) Coordinator for National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr Samuel Asare-Bediako, said the NPA is deeply concerned about illegal fuel activities since according to him such activities put consumers at risk of purchasing low-quality fuels.
He adds that such activities have the potential of denying lawful operators in the industry the ability to recoup their investments while at the same time the government loses revenue in the form of unpaid taxes.
He praised the management of Total Ghana for re-commissioning the Pig Farm fuel station.
Mr Samuel Asare-Bediako said NPA will continue to provide the needed regulatory framework and guidelines to enable it to achieve an environment that promotes fair competition and good trade practices.
