Two of Ghana’s biggest music artistes at the moment, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie, will bring their best game to Kumasi on Saturday, May 10, at the Jubilee Park when they mount the stage to perform to their numerous fans in the Garden City.
Thus music lovers in Kumasi will be the first to enjoy the performance of Ghana’s newest Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held in Accra last Saturday night.
Dubbed the “Switch Back Concert”, the big bash is being organised by telecom company, Tigo, as part of activities to climax the 15th anniversary celebration of the king of the Asante Kingdom, OtumfuoOsei Tutu II.
Over the last year, Shatta Wale has come up as the most popular Ghanaian musician and his songs Dancehall King, Enter The Net, Like My Thing, Shatta City and others have become hits in the country. All these songs and many others will be performed by the Dancehall King singer on Saturday.
Sarkodie who also won four awards at the Ghana Music Awards and is also a previous winner of the Artiste of the Year award as well as a BET award winner, will share the stage with Shatta Wale in Kumasi.
The Tema-based rapper who is known for hit songs like You Go Kill Me, Pizza and Burger and Illuminati is the leading hiphop and hiplife artiste as well as one of the best Ghanaian live performers. He is expected to bring his A game to the Tigo Switch Back Concert in Kumasi.
“This concert is our way of commending the people of Asanteman for their support to the brand over the years and to congratulate the Asantehene for his service to his people and to all Ghanaians since ascending to the throne,” a Tigo official said.
As part of Tigo’s support towards the celebration of Asantehene’s 15th anniversary, the company is supporting the Otumfuo’s Teacher’s Awards, sponsoring the cleaning up of Asanteman and then climax with the Switch Back Concert.
