The Ashaiman Police is investigating a case in which three private security men responsible for guiding the Borteyman Affordable Housing project site conspired and sold some of the building materials in their care.
The three, who are currently on police enquiry bail, are Alphonse Mensah, 34, Anipa Godslove, 42 and Albert Ajato 27.
They stole 95 pieces of iron rods and 400 pieces of PVC pipe tubes and sold it at 1,000 Ghana cedis.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, Superintendent Frank Awu, Ashaiman District Police Commander said on March 24 at about 2300 hours, he received a call from an informant that Mensah had informed him of some building materials he had at home which he was offering for sale.
He said the informant stated that he became suspicious when Mensah went with him into a bush near his (Mensah’s) house where he had kept the items and demanded the said amount.
Superintendent Awu said he informed the patrol team who met the informant at Adjei Kojo, a suburb of Ashaiman and helped him to send the items to the police station at 0100 hours on March 25 after advising him to pay for the items.
The informant led the police to the Borteyman Affordable Housing Project site where Mensah was arrested and admitted selling the items to him.
Mensah named Godslove and Ajato as his accomplice during interrogation stating that some of the items were stolen from the Bortianor Affordable Housing site.
