A former Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak says the team's win over AS Police in the CAF Confederation Cup marks the turning point in their recent slump.
Hearts progressed to the next stage of the competition after drawing goalless in Benin to seal a 1-0 aggregate win. The Phobians will now face Senegalese club Olympique de Ngor, who qualified at the expense of Unisport de Bafang of Cameroon.
Alhaji Braimah Ankabi, who travelled with the former African champions, says their progression marks the club's revival.
“If you look at our play nowadays you could see there are a lot of changes and the players have promised they will turn the heat on any team we meet going forward,” he told Joy Sports.
“The players were marvellous in the game against AS Police and i believe this is the turning point.”
Before the game against AS Police there were reports that Hearts were going to sack Coach Hebert Addo if they had failed to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
But Alhaji Ankabi noted that there was no truth in those ultimatum reports.
“Honestly i don’t know where people are getting this information from , there was nothing like that.”
Hearts are still trying to claw their way out of the doldrums in the domestic league, which resumes this weekend.
