Akuapem Poloo, born Rosemond Brown has appealed to Ghanaians to support her with prayers as she begins her 90-day jail sentence.
The actress, barely two hours after her conviction took to her Instagram page to thank her fans adding that she is a strong woman.
Captioning her post "I love you all", the social media sensation said “Sometimes in life, you have to pass through some things to make you strong to get you somewhere. I know this is a test I have to go through.
“All that I need is your prayers and your support. Your girl will be back soon,” she said in the short video.
An Accra Circuit Court on Friday sentenced Akuapem Poloo 90 days imprisonment for posting a naked picture with her son on Instagram on his seventh birthday in 2020.
Before the judgment, the actress pleaded guilty to all three charges and was convicted on her own plea by the court presided over by Christina Cann. She was subsequently remanded into custody to undergo a pregnancy test before her sentencing.
Following the court’s pronouncement, Ghanaians have expressed diverse reactions.
Whilst some have called for stiffer punishment for the social media sensation to help deter others from repeating the act, others mainly, social media influencers are campaigning for the actress to be freed or be given a less harsh punishment.
With the hashtag ‘#FreeAkuapemPoloo’, social media users such as Sarkodie, Efya, Hajia For Real, Akumaa Mama Zimbi and other Ghanaians are flooding social media with alternative punishment for the actress.
Acknowledging the support she garnered, Akuapem Poloo express an enormous gratitude to all those who openly backed her as she went through the tempestuous moment.
She said she was "humbled" by the love and support she gained.
