Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to reject the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
He attributed the country’s current economic woes to the mismanagement by President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government, which he believes has left many Ghanaians in financial distress.
Speaking at a political rally in the Savannah Region during his nationwide campaign tour, Mahama emphasised that voting out the NPP is the only way to bring meaningful change and relief to the country.
He outlined the NDC’s vision for Ghana, stating that under his leadership, the country would regain economic stability and prosperity.
Mahama did not hold back in his criticism, accusing the NPP of incompetence in handling the economy.
He argued that the current administration has failed to take responsibility for the challenges facing the nation and lacks the leadership to steer Ghana out of the economic crisis.
The former president pointed to the depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi and the soaring prices of essential commodities like cement as clear indicators of the government's failure.
He urged voters to use these economic hardships as a reason to reject the NPP in the upcoming elections.
“This is the government that does not accept its fault. Despite all that has happened in this country, they don’t accept that they have created hardship. They don’t accept that they have mismanaged the economy. They still go and sit on the radio and say, we are the better managers of the economy."
“Better managers of the economy, you took the dollar from GH¢4 to $1 to GH¢17 to $1 and you say you are better managers of the economy. You took cement from GH¢24 per bag to GH¢110 per bag and you say you are better managers of the economy," he insisted.
