A nine-year-old girl has become the third child to die after the Southport stabbings, Merseyside Police say.
She died from her injuries in the early hours of this morning.
Merseyside Police revealed that the two victims who died in the attack yesterday were girls aged six and seven.
This is the first time police have confirmed the victims' genders. Until this point, we knew only that they were children.
Eight other children were stabbed in the attack, police say. Five of the children and two adults remain in a critical condition.
