Former first lady, Theresa Kufuor is spotted at a public function for the first time after rumours of her death.
On Tuesday, social media was buzzing about the alleged sudden demise of the former first lady.
But the spokesperson for the former first family, Frank Agyekum quickly debunked the assertion describing the rumour as a “blatant lie”.
At the memorial service of her brother son, Kwabena Boahin Mensah who was a BBC reporter at the Christ the King Parish in Cantonments, Mrs. Kufuor was seen walking briskly without any aid.
Adom News’ Patricia Asiedua Akuffo who was at the service reported that Mrs. Kufuor is physically fit and did not show any sign of ill health throughout the service.
She noted that the former first lady was dressed in funeral cloth and seated next to her husband, former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
“She was seated with in a calm demeanor so for those who have not seen her in a long time, she has aged gracefully” she added.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekufful who was also at the funeral service expressed shock over the rumours after she arrived and greeted Mrs. Kufuor.
She pleaded with Ghanaians to desist from such acts.
Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wougon Constituency, Kyeremateng Agyarko also added that it is becoming a very common practice as he was pronounced dead two weeks ago.
Other dignitaries at the funeral were representatives from the BBC, Former Senior Minister and father of the deceased J. H Mensah, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo together with his wife, Dr. Addo Kuffuor, Allan Kyeremateng, former NPP Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Akoto Bamfo, Hackman Owusu Agyemang Chairman of the CPP, Samia Yaba Nkrumah and many others.
