Ghana has received the Queen’s baton in the ongoing Queens’ Baton Relay.
The activity similar to the Olympic Torch Relay is organised before the beginning of the Commonwealth Games.

The baton relay, which began in October 2021, is expected to travel across all 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth carrying Queen Elizabeth II’s message.

It will touch the ground on all the continents and finally return to the Queen in England next year.
The Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham, the United Kingdom, in 2022.
In Ghana, the baton arrived yesterday and was met with festivities.

It will be here for three days touring the country.
It was carried from the Jubilee House to the British High Commission, with Ghana’s first runner being President Akufo-Addo.

It will be carried across the principal streets of Accra, Tema, and Kumasi before leaving the country.

The Birmingham 2022 website states, “This collective journey will ignite hope, solidarity , and collaboration for the next generation, with these stories leaving us all, inspired to take on the challenges that matter most to us.”
