It is rare that a full-blown bust up takes two days to emerge from the cracks of the dressing room walls, but that is exactly what has happened with the Daily Mail revealing Carlos Tevez's blazing row with boss Roberto Mancini.
The Manchester City pair apparently stood toe-to-toe trading verbal blows which almost escalated into a physical confrontation in the dressing room at Eastlands in an inquest over a lacklustre first-half display against Newcastle.
It is understood that the mood turned sour on Sunday when Mancini entered the dressing room after his players and heard Tevez saying something he didn't like, before firing back a swift riposte which the Daily Star revealed was a "disgusting personal insult".
According to the Mail, other players and members of the backroom staff were forced to intervene, and it was intense enough for Mancini to prepare to substitute his skipper with Tevez subsequently taking off his shirt before the situation finally cooled.
