Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Tems have both been named the Afrobeats Artiste of the Year at the 2023 iHeart Radio Awards.
The two superstars won the award at the event held in Los Angeles on Monday night.
They beat competition from other Nigerian colleagues namely Burna Boy, Fireboy DML and CKay.
Tems also won another award on the night. Her collaboration with Future and Drake, ‘Wait for U’ won the Hip-Hop Song of the Year category.
This adds to Tems’ international recognition she has received in the past year.
She won her first Grammy in February.
Tems was also nominated for an Oscar for her contributions on Rihanna’s Black Panther song ‘Lift Me Up’.
She however lost that to ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the Bollywood film RRR.
