Tema Community 8 Primary School put up a great performance to beat Twedease Primary School 1-0 in the finals at this year’s OMA FutureStars Festival of Sport held at the Tema Sports Stadium.
The 4th edition saw students from five Tema-based schools competing for honours in 5-aside football and netball plus the introduction of a sprint competition to discover the fastest boy and girl.
Community 7 Primary School, Community 8 Primary School, Twedease Primary School, Republic Road Primary School and Baatsona Primary School all participated.
With Twedease Primary School emerging winners of the netball competition after defeating Baatsona Primary School 10-3 in the finals.
Enoch Agudey of Twedease Primary emerged the fastest sprinter while Community 8 Primary School’s Constance Attipoe won the crown in the girls' event.
In the academy football event, Ghana’s FutureStars team defeated their Togolese counterparts 5-3 on penalties to clinch the title.
The event was graced by former English footballers Terry Butcher and Titus Bramble.
The annual sports festival is aimed at promoting basic education in Ghana and instilling core values in pupils through sports.
