The President of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, Prof. Charles Adams says the government's declaration that works on the Tema motorway will begin in December 2022 is just political talk.
According to him, the technical works that goes into the reconstruction of the project will take time and cannot be done within the stipulated period government announced.
He has therefore suggested that maintenance of the road first will help avert frequent road accidents, since people currently ply the road.
“When listening to what the ministers were saying, one thing is very common. They were describing what ought to be done or the plans that they have and that is more political talk than technical talk.
“Because if you want to do a Private Public Partnership, there is a process we go through, and until you've reached the point where you've selected a constructioneer, you cannot promise Ghanaians that the road will start in 2022,” he said on Tuesday.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Prof Adams clarified that the government needs to inform the public with the true situation of the reconstruction of the road.
“It may not be the fault of the government but I think the people deserve to know the truth and what's happening.
"If your investors are not interested in the project because of its size, there's a way to speak about it instead of giving people the impression that everything is over,” he said.
