Teachers are refusing postings to Attimokwa in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region because of the unavailability of potable water and electricity, a source close to the traditional council has disclosed.
“Since most teachers refuse postings to the town, the standard of education has fallen and we wonder what the future holds for our children,” the source lamented.
It said despite the town’s contribution to agricultural development in the country, it had been denied access to the national cake.
However, the clinic in the town runs on a generator on a 24 hour basis thus putting pressure on its scarce financial resources.
The source has therefore appealed for an urgent attention to their concerns in order to promote the area’s socio economic development.
The source made these known at the installation of Dabenghene and Dabenghemaa, Nana Kwabena Dade II and Obaapanin Asmaba III respectively.
Later in an address, the Paramount Chief of the area, Oseadeaye Nana Kenin III declined to mention the problems facing the area but said “everything has been laid before the regional minister.
He appealed to the other chiefs in the area to give their maximum support to the traditional council in executing its development agenda for the area.
