Paakoso Senior High School in the Asokore Municipality has received personal protective equipment and other materials to aid the fight against the novel coronavirus.
The gesture by Kumasi Metropolitan ‘B’ branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) was extended to three district directorates.
Secretary, Richarda Tano Appiah said it is the group’s contribution to the national effort to protect students and teachers.
“As a parent and mother association we could also top it up so that our members will be well secured to the work properly and efficiently,” she noted.
Asokore Mampong Municipal Education Director, Hajia Katumi Nantogma was grateful for the gesture and asked for more.
“You’re adding to what has been provided by government. I’m grateful it went all teachers of the school and not GNAT members more should come to the municipal,” she said.
On events at KNUST SHS, GNAT urged calm among parents and students as investigation begins into the demise of a student.
Ashanti Regional GNAT Secretary, Peter Boateng said: “We’re pleading to the public to exercise the maximum restraint. The whole issue has been handed over to a team of investigators. The investigation is still ongoing and we must not be so prejudicial. If that happens, it will incur the displeasure of both parties. i.e. family on one side and parents on the other side.”
