Teachers in the Upper West region who are customers of the Agricultural Development Bank have warned they would leave the bank if bank officials do not stop using indecent language on them.
Mr Cletus Paaga, Upper West Regional Director of Ghana Education Service, who issued the warning, said he had taken up the issue with the Bank's management.
”If this still persists, I will take all my teachers out of the Bank and I will ask district directors of GES not to sign any collateral for those who would refuse to join our action", he told a meeting of teachers from the entire Wa area.
Mr Paaga explained that on many occasions, teachers stayed in the bank for long hours leaving the classroom unattended to, a situation he said was affecting the schools' performance in the final examinations.
"Payment of our salaries are always delayed and this is having a negative impact on our pupils," a teacher told the GNA.
The Branch Manager of the ADB, Mr Emmanuel Abukyi, attributed the reported slow process at the Bank to a recent computerisation of their operations, saying the staff needed to work with caution, especially when processing salaries.
He said the Bank is grappling with a problem of inadequate staff to service about 4,000 customers monthly.
