Two people who allegedly assaulted Mr Osa Moses Tettey, a teacher of Roman Catholic Primary School at Dordoekope in South Tongu District, have appeared before a Sogakope Magistrate’s Court for assault.
Anan Ebenezer 19, unemployed and Philip Dunyo, a student of Ada Technical Institute pleaded not guilty and were granted GH¢2,500 bail each with a surety to be justified. They would re-appear on March 12, this year.
Police Sergeant Emmanuel Atsyor, told the court presided over by Mr Eric Fiamordzi that the accused persons were residents of Dordoekope where the complainant, Mr Tettey teaches.
He said at about 1600 hours on February 22, this year, the complainant who was in-charge of sports at the school, was taking the school’s football team in a training session ahead of the inter-school’s sports festival.
Police Sergeant Atsyor, said the accused persons approached the complainant and asked him to leave the school park with the pupils to allow them and their colleagues to play on the park.
He said the complainant advised them to use the Junior High School football field but they refused and instead began erecting goal posts on the park using cement blocks.
The prosecution said the complainant removed the blocks during which the accused persons became annoyed and beat up the complainant mercilessly until he was rescued by some residents.
He said the accused persons were arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
