Mr. Kwabena Adjei Agyepong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant for the 2008 Election, on Thursday said taunts of possible split of the NPP was a political gimmick, being churned by NPP detractors to sow disaffection among its rank and file.
He said the assertion was a wishful thought of NPP detractors, which would never see the light of day, as the NPP would return from the December 22 2007 Delegates Congress, more solid and united than ever.
Mr. Agyepong, a former Presidential Press Secretary, made these remarks when he was answering a question on the fear of a possible split of the NPP after Congress, during an interaction with party executives and supporters from the Northern Volta Constituencies of the NPP at Hohoe.
They were, North-Dayi, Hohoe-South, Hohoe-North, Biakoye, Buem, Akan, Nkwanta-North, Nkwanta-South, Krachi-East and Krachi-West Constituencies.
Mr. Agyepong said all aspirants had strong and deep-rooted allegiance to the party and its tradition and ideals.
The presidential aspirant said his exuberance had injected vitality, urgency, passion and patriotism into the contest and the national psyche, making him a preferred choice.
Mr. Agyepong said if he wins the NPP contest and goes on to become President, his administration would invigorate all dormant party structures.
The presidential aspirant said he would establish factories in the hinterland, which had abundant raw material instead of cramming them in the big cities.
He said all over the world young people were making giant strides in leadership and governance saying he was six years above the age pegged for contesting presidential election in the country.
Mr. Agyepong said "My administration would chase-results, punish wrongdoing, practicalize governance and leadership skills needed to propel the economy to the next level. No time wasting on workshops as several recommendations were already lying on the drawing boards."
He said he had the capacity to build a new Ghana with a guaranteed future granted delegates voted for him adding that his experience and knowledge at the Presidency had deepened his horizon as a "political aplanke, (mate)" to enable him to efficiently build state machinery.
