Tagoe seals Hoffenheim switch

Ghana striker Prince Tagoe has signed a three-year contract with German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim on a free transfer. The 22-year-old signed a three-year contract on Tuesday, moving from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq. Tagoe told BBC Sport: "I'm delighted to have joined Hoffenheim, one of the most respected clubs in the world. "This is a dream come true as it has always been my ambition to play for a top European club. "Having spoken to the manager of the club, the chief executive, my agents and other people at the club, I am excited about this move." Hoffenheim had faced competition from clubs in England, Spain, Italy and France for Tagoe's signature. But he arrived in Germany on Tuesday for contract talks and a medical, after helping the Black Stars defeat Mali 2-0 in Sunday's 2010 World Cup qualifier in Bamako. He added: "I had many options with several clubs in Europe seeking to sign me on with very lucrative deals. Tagoe started his career abroad after the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations when he signed for Saudi side Al Ittihad from local club Hearts of Oak. He played for Al Shabab in the United Arab Emirates in 2007 before joining Al Ettifaq a year later. Hoffenheim had four Africans on their books for the 2008/9 season - Nigerian Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke, Senegal's Demba Ba, Ghana defender Isaac Vorsah, and Ivorian Boubacar Sanogo. They finished seventh in the Bundesliga. He will return to Ghana by Thursday to join the Black Stars for their prepaparation for the game against Sudan on 20 June in Omdurman. Tagoe will move to Hoffenheim in August for their pre-season tour before the new Bundesliga season begins. The 22-year-old has been in devastating form for Saudi side Al Ettifaq and is currently the leading scorer in the Asian Champions League. Source: Ghanasoccernet
