A suspected armed robber who had been on remand at the Nsawam Prisons, died in the early hours of Tuesday at the Ministries Police cells.
Kasim Iddrisu, 42, who was remanded for his alleged involvement in some robbery cases, has for about three years been at the Nsawam Prisons pending trial.
Chief Superintendent Angwubutoge Awuni, the Accra South Divisional Police Commander said that Iddrisu was brought to the cells on January 4.
He said Iddrisu who had been receiving treatment in hospital for swollen feet, was supposed to be kept at the Accra Regional Police Command. However, the facilities there are not enough to accommodate him and several other suspects.
