The Millennium City Police Command in the Central Region has arrested a 22-year-old offender, Eric Awutey for attacking a police officer in the area.
According to the Police, the suspect allegedly bit off the thumb of a policeman, Corporal Kasim Amenu in an attempt to resist arrest.
Narrating events that led to the incident, the Millennium City District Police Commander, DSP Charles Atuah told Adom News that a resident came to lodge a complaint that one Eric Awutey has stolen his cement blocks.
Corporal Amenu who was then on duty went with the complainant to arrest the suspect but in the process of arresting the culprit, the suspect bit off a portion of his thumb and swallowed it.
The Commander noted that the victim was subsequently sent to the Kasoa Polyclinic for treatment.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
