The Crans Montana Forum and the WDA World Diplomatic Academy have announced an initiative dedicated to the founding of a Supreme Council of Royals in an exceptional partnership with HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Asantehene of Ashanti Kingdom.
The establishment of a Supreme Council of African Royals aims to gather indigenous rulers who hold a formal position of authority within their community, inherited, elected or appointed, based on traditional customs.
The Supreme Council invites key Indigenous rulers and leaders from every country of the African continent.
They already have responsibilities that include making decisions for the community, enforcing laws, and representing the community in interactions with other groups.
The Supreme Council of African Royals will recognize and work on integrating the wisdom, authority, and influence of Indigenous Leadership into the modern governance structures of African nations.
This initiative is supported by numerous international dignitaries among them HRH Prince Jean de Nassau, Prince de Luxembourg and Rev. Jesse Jackson, the US herald of civil rights.
Indeed, Africa, with its historical cultural diversity, faces today unique, political, social, and economic challenges.
The traditional African leadership structure, guardian of the societal values, represents a huge potential for addressing these challenges and promoting progress and innovation in the respect of traditions.
Thanks to the Council, the importance of cultural diversity will become a strength rather than a barrier and Indigenous Rulers will better contribute to the development and implementation of policies that directly affect their communities and the nation.
The Supreme Council of African Royals will play a significant role in promoting inclusive governance, sustainable development, and social cohesion in Africa in the following directions:
• Recognition and promotion of Indigenous leadership and its role and authority in the governance structures of African nations
• Representation of local community’s interests at the national and continental levels
• Facilitate Indigenous leaders to leverage their influence to bring sustainable development and to invite investment and partnerships into their kingdoms and communities
• Involvement of Indigenous Rulers in the development and implementation of national policies that directly affect their communities
• Promotion and preservation of the African rich cultural heritage by integrating traditional values and practices into modern governance
• Creation of an international network of friendship and confidence with key world official and private sector decision makers to boost, at the local level, economic cooperation and international economic relations
• Facilitating the creation of cooperation links between African traditional leaders and their foreign counterparts for boosting economic development
• Promotion of Cross-Culture Skills, International Business Collaboration and Intergovernmental Dialogue
