The committee in charge of organizing supporters to go cheer the Black Stars at the 2010 World Cup has promised to provide details of the cost involved when the tournament is over.
Government and the ruling National Democratic Congress have come under intense pressure to fully disclose how much exactly has been spent in getting the over one thousand football fans to South Africa.
Apart from pressure group, the Progressive Nationalist Forum, known NDC activist, Ras Mubarak is also demanding accountability.
The PNF is threatening to petition the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice if the President fails to do so.
But, Deputy Sports Minister Nii Nortey Dua, who is a member of the committee, says the report will be available in a few weeks.
Meanwhile the Deputy Minister says his recent comments about stranded fans at the El-Wak Stadium have been misconstrued.
He told Joy News’ Elvis Adjetey on Wednesday that the fans could go and rent accommodation until after the World Cup to avoid the embarrassment of returning home without going to South Africa.
After initially denying the comments on Peace FM, Nii Nortey Dua apologized after the recording was played back, adding they could continue to stay at El Wak.
In a related development, the last group of fans said to have been stranded in South Africa after they were airlifted yesterday have dismissed media reports that they have been abandoned.
