Mr Ben Rockson, Field Representative, Kumasi chapter of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International, has called on churches to support the government to clamp down on "contract killings", armed robberies and other social vices bedevilling the country.
He said these crimes were not having disastrous effects on the relative peace of the people but also affecting the country's developmental process.
Mr Rockson made the call at the Annual General Meeting of the Kumasi Circuit Lay Movement Council of the Methodist Church at the Wesley Cathedral in Kumasi. It was under the theme: "Tell My People to Move Forward".
He spoke against indecent dressing and wrongful imitation of foreign culture and fashions by Ghanaian youth, adding that Christians should stand up against such vices, which are abominable in the sight of God.
Mr Rockson stated that such trends in the society pose great challenges to Christians. "We should be non-conformist and fight bribery and corruption since no one can stand the wrath of God".
Very Reverend Samuel Fred Ansuh, Superintendent Minister of Kumasi Circuit of the Methodist Church, said the theme was appropriate for the occasion, noting that the Lay Movement Council should be the rallying point to assist the church to realize its programmes and objectives.
