The Sunyani Polytechnic branch of the MOVEMENT FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE (MSJ) wishes to state its stand on the way government is handling the strike action of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) and the polytechnic education as a whole.
Polytechnic graduates play a vital and very important role in the economy of Ghana but government’s continuous ineptitude to offer better services in polytechnic education is gradually leading to a frustrated polytechnic educational system.
We believe that the government is not handling the concerns of POTAG in the interest of the polytechnic students.
The National Labour Commission (NLC) and POTAG are at war and the innocent student is at the receiving end.
Parents had to go through thick and thin to pay the tuition fees of their children only to realise they have made a very wrong investment.
We therefore call on the president to stand by his words of been father for all and not father for universities.
The president should make moves towards getting the teachers back into the classroom or get ready to recruit and beef up security men to fight crime on our street in the nearest future.
Thank you.
