Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari has claimed that most of the things said about him in the media in Ghana are untrue.
Muntari missed Ghana’s two World Cup qualifiers this month, with a section of the local press suggesting he was not injured and simply wanted to stay away from the games.
Muntari featured for all 90 minutes for his Italian club, only to pull out from the Black Stars decisive games against Mali and Sudan. He cited an injury, which the GFA said was backed by a medical report.
"I can say I am fit now and can't say more please. You, the media, say things that are not true and I refuse to comment," he said.
But the player was still widely criticised in the Ghanaian media and accused of not being committed to the national cause.
The press also reported that Muntari confronted top government officials, over an increase in Ghana's win bonus before the World Cup qualifier against Benin in Kumasi in March.
The player's mother also accused the media of being against her son, saying Ghana cannot do without him.
