A circuit court at Cape Coast has remanded a 20-year old student in prison custody for allegedly defiling an eight-year old pupil at Abrobeano near Komenda.
Richard Otoo, a student of the Biriwa Vocational Training Centre in the Mfantsiman district of the Central Region, pleaded not guilty and is to be re-arraigned on Monday, February 19.
Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Beresford Acquah that the victim lives with her grandmother at Abrobeano, while Otoo lives in the same vicinity.
He said sometime in October last year, the girl's grandmother travelled and left her in the care of other relatives, but on her return three-days later she detected that the victim was not walking properly.
Chief inspector Azasoo said when questioned by her grandmother, the girl allegedly narrated how Otoo lured her into his room with the pretext of giving her some biscuit, when she was playing with her friends.
He said the victim said the accused then pinned her on the floor and forcibly had sex with her and afterwards warned her to keep it a secret.
