Hiplife music connoisseur Root Eye has waded into the recent controversial article written by Nana Kojo Mula on the “10 Artists Essential to Ghanaian Hiplife”.
Although he believes Stonebwoy doesn’t exactly fit in the Hiplife space, he said the award-winning artiste's effort to sell Ghana through music cannot be downplayed.
Root Eye's comment comes after Stonebwoy expressed disappointment in the article by Nana Kojo Mula on the Grammy website on August 20, 2024.
Stonebwoy stirred controversy following his critique of the GRAMMY article that delves into the history of hiplife music in Ghana.
In a recent phone-in interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, veteran Ghanaian reggae/dancehall artiste, Root Eye, lavished praise on Stonebwoy, crediting him with achieving remarkable milestones that have eclipsed the accomplishments of many of his predecessors.
“I have stopped calling him Stonebwoy. I’m calling him Honourable Satekla because he’s at the moment musically the greatest Ghanaian music ambassador. After all, this man is sending us places where we never thought we would be,” said Root Eye.
He added, “The guy is living the dream that most of us had and couldn’t attain. We are living through him, we are living out dreams through this guy, so we cannot water down his contribution or the role he is playing for us at the moment,” he said.
