The damaged statue of President Akufo-Addo in Sekondi has been repaired.
The monument, unveiled on 6th November to honour the President, had suffered a dent with a conspicuous hole at the back of one of its legs.
The cause of the damage remains uncertain, though some speculate it could have been an act of vandalism, particularly given earlier threats from some residents to remove the statue.
Others believe it might have resulted from a structural flaw in its construction.
Residents in Sekondi have expressed dissatisfaction with the statue's presence, arguing that priority should be given to addressing uncompleted projects in the region.
Key initiatives, such as the Takoradi Market Circle redevelopment, the PTC roundabout three-tier interchange, and the dualisation of the Sekondi-Takoradi road, remain unfinished and have sparked frustration among the local populace.
The statue’s repair has done little to quell discontent among residents, many of whom continue to call for its removal.
They argue that such monuments should not overshadow the pressing developmental needs of the region.
