About 35 Persons with Disabilities have benefitted from a career enhancement programme organised by Standard Chartered Bank in Accra.
This forms part of activities of the bank to commemorate the 2019 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) which was observed on December 3.
This day is celebrated with the objective of compassion for the disabled, self-esteem and support to improve their lives.
Based on this backdrop, Standard Chartered is imparting knowledge on disabled persons in Ghana which falls under the bank’s new community investment approach called ‘Futuremakers’ which aims to empower young people with employability, education and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Head, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Asiedua Addae said staff volunteers of the bank schooled the group on CV writing skills, interviewing skills and career planning skills.
The beneficiaries, she noted, have completed tertiary education and national service and have expressed interest in working in the formal sector.
“What they have expressed is that they want to be in the formal sector and so we are transferring the skills they need to help them be in the formal sector,” she stated.
Asiedua Addae stressed that, the career enhancement programme imparted on them by staff of Standard Chartered bank is what they need for their future which is the part of their diversity and inclusion agenda.
