The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St. John's Hospital and Fertility Centre, Dr Maame Yaa Afriye has been honoured with the Leadership Excellence in Innovation Award for her outstanding contributions towards building healthcare services at the recently held 6th edition of the Women Choice Awards Africa, 2024.
This recognition underscores Dr Maame Yaa Afriye's leadership qualities and distinctive creativity in healthcare and St. John's Hospital's rapid ascent in Ghana's healthcare landscape.
The five-star event was on the theme, "The Power of Now", with the aim to boost the confidence and self-esteem of remarkable hardworking women, serving as inspiration for others to pursue similar aspirations.
Held at the Marriot Hotel in Accra, the award organised by Global Ovation seeks to recognise the hard work of women and also acknowledge companies for their excellent performance amid challenges.
St. John's Hospital and Fertility Centre, under the leadership of Dr Maame Yaa Afriye, has redefined healthcare with a customer-centric approach and innovative service delivery.

Dr Maame Yaa Afriye expressed her profound gratitude to her staff, and clients for their unflinching support always.

About Dr Maame Yaa Afriye
Dr Maame Yaa Afriye holds a PhD in Health Policy and Management from the University of Ghana Business School.
She is a trained Pharmacist and holds a BSc in Pharmacy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). She also holds an MBA in Health Services Management, PGDip. BA, and a PGCert. Supply Chain & HR.
Dr Afriye has publications in reputable journals to her credit having co-authored papers such as “The Relationship between Customer Relationship Management and Its Effect on Patient Management,” “Examining Working Mothers Experience of Exclusive Breastfeeding in Ghana” published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing, and the International Breastfeeding Journal.
Additionally, she has participated in and shared her experience at several local and international conferences, seminars, and trainings relevant to her area of expertise and general healthcare management.
As CEO for the past five years, she has aggressively led the transformation agenda of the Hospital and in the process, among others, re-envisioned the strategic orientation of the Hospital, and introduced strategic measures aimed at nurturing a passionate, disciplined, motivated and customer-centric workforce.
Additionally, she has given the Hospital a facelift with an expansion and upgrading of the Hospital’s infrastructure and modernization of its technologies making it a fitting and conducive environment for optimal general and specialised patient care.
Her visionary leadership and hard work have thus not gone unnoticed as the Hospital has in recent times been adjudged with the following recognition and acknowledgement by prestigious bodies:

- Fertility Hospital Brand of the Year 2023 from Ghana Corporate BRANDS Awards

In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing badminton and spending time with family and friends.
