A specialised team from the police headquarters has begun investigations to find killers of the police officer gunned down by suspected armed robbers in the Northern region.

Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin was shot Tuesday night at a checkpoint in the Sagnarigu municipality. She was among three officers stationed at a checkpoint close to a fuel station.

Eyewitnesses say the robbers who were all armed and dressed in military camouflage, wearing face masks and dessert boots, escaped with two weapons.

Acting Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, who visited Tamale Thursday, has assured the family of the deceased, the police would leave no stone unturned to find her killers.

“I have been to the crime scene and whatever lead we get, we will follow,” he said.

The husband of the late officer is still in disbelief at the killing of his wife.

He told Joy News’ Martina Bugri, the premature death is hard on him but even harder on the three young children who have been left without a mother.

The Police Administration has announced a GH¢10,000 reward for anybody who would give credible information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

A family liaison officer has also been appointed to interact with the family of the deceased officer and offer counselling services to the family and surviving officers.

The police have called on any person(s) with information, to notify police stations near to them or call police emergency numbers 0299200331, 191 or 18555.
