Societe Generale Ghana reinforced the Bank’s status as a reliable partner for community centered interventions with its latest project in the Ho Central Municipality – the provision of a borehole for the Kpenoe Traditional Area.
The newly constructed borehole to serve the people of Kpenoe and its environs was a direct response to a dire situation, lasting several years, in which the community members were forced to use water from unsafe sources leading to widespread cases of cholera, typhoid and other waterborne diseases.
At a durbar to commission the project, the Managing Director of SG Ghana, Hakim Ouzzani, spoke about the Bank’s commitment to humanitarian projects.
He highlighted how important water was to the people and how its absence affected all domestic and commercial activities.
He further said “It is my hope that this initiative from us will benefit the community and we are also happy that the project is not far from the school and that will be easier for the school children to have access”.
Mr Ouzzani commended the chiefs and the elders in the community for collaborating with the bank to ensure the success of the project.
On their part, the leadership and people of Kpenoe were extremely grateful to SG Ghana for their immerse support.
Speaking for the Chief of Kpenoe, Joshua Eli Boakye, Assembly Man for Akoefe-Kpenoe thank the Bank for coming to their aid.
He said “We thank the bank for having the heart of giving because this project is very expensive but when we called on them for assistance, it didn’t look at the amount involved but the number lives the project can save”.
He assured that the community was going to maintain it to ensure that it served the purpose for which it was constructed.
While SG Ghana’s primary focus is supporting the economic and financial activities of Ghanaians, they also accept the responsibility of supporting various communities across the country. Every year the bank provides boreholes to communities affected with water crisis.
This initiative forms part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to support the communities and citizens of this great country. At SG Ghana, CSR mean to Care, to Share, and to Respect.
