The Chief Executive of Simplon Africa, Dr Bouna Kane, has urged young Ghanaians to take full advantage of digital skills training programs to secure better opportunities in an increasingly challenging job market.

Speaking at the Ghana Digitour Training Program Alumni Engagement, Dr Kane emphasised the importance of staying focused, motivated, and serious when given such opportunities, especially in the competitive and evolving digital landscape.

"Life is hard nowadays, so when you gain an opportunity, we expect you to be focused, available, and self-motivating. It's a unique chance, and once lost, it will be difficult to come by again," he said.

He encouraged young Ghanaians and their counterparts across Africa to be dedicated when participating in free digital training programs, stressing that it could be the key to unlocking future job opportunities.

Simplon Africa, in partnership with Mobile Web Ghana, is currently running the Ghana Digitour Project, which aims to provide young entrepreneurs with essential digital skills.

Funded by an American foundation, the project seeks to train 400 participants through short, one-week sessions.

Despite the brief nature of the training, Dr. Kane highlighted its impact, noting the positive feedback from alumni who have appreciated the value added to their professional journeys.

"This ongoing project was more for entrepreneurs because it is one-week training sessions. It is not too long, but in one week, you can do many things," he explained.

He lauded Mobile Web Ghana's efforts in executing the project and expressed optimism about expanding it to benefit more young people.

Dr. Kane also shared his ambition to extend Simplon Africa’s partnership with Mobile Web Ghana and seek additional funding to offer longer, more comprehensive training sessions.

The goal is to better prepare young Ghanaians for the job market by equipping them with advanced digital skills.

Taking her turn, Director of Mobile Web Ghana, Florence Toffa urged the youth to dive into the vast opportunities within the tech world, highlighting the significant impact it can have on shaping their future careers.

She pointed out that having digital skills in this digital landscape puts them in a better chance of securing a job or making them self-sufficient in establishing their businesses.

An entrepreneur and beneficiary of the Ghana Digitour Project shared how the initiative has significantly transformed their business through the acquisition of crucial digital skills.

Speaking about the impact of the project, the entrepreneur highlighted how training in areas such as social media management and digital marketing has boosted business performance and visibility.

"The Ghana Digitour Project has equipped me with the knowledge and skills needed in social media management, digital marketing, etc., which has improved my business from the time I started till now. I have seen a huge difference after joining the project," the entrepreneur stated.
