Female staff of SIC Life Insurance Limited hoping to adopt or have children through a surrogate can now heave a sigh of relief.
This is because, they would have maternity leave to be able to bond with their new baby and adjust to new caregiving responsibilities
This laudable initiative was announced by the company’s head of Human Resource and Administration, Louise Adwoa Agyeman-Barning at a special Mothers Day event for female staff.
She said granting a one month maternity leave to such mothers will help improve their physical and mental health.
“I’m excited to announce that in our new collective agreement. We allow for a month’s maternity leave for those who want to go for adoption or surrogacy. SIC life is taking baby steps to support motherhood” she added.
Mrs. Louise Agyeman-Barning said it is part of efforts to make the lives of our mothers and mothers-to-be better.
As part of acitivities to mark the Mothers Day, SIC Life female staff were trained personal etiquettes and corporate grooming.
They were taken through topics on personal hygiene, how to choose a corporate dress, skincare routines, hair styles, make-up and many others.
The Chief Executive Officer of Kobadem Image Consultants, Mrs Emma Addo-Owusu said grooming and etiquette are necessary to project a proper physical image of oneself to the outside world.
She noted that, personal grooming deals with issues relating to the overall physical image presented by an individual or a group of staff in an organization.
According to the grooming expert, a well-dressed individual will make a far better impression to a client than a sloppily dressed one.
“This image presented can either enhance the perceived impression of the person or institution or destroy its reputation” she told participants.
Madam Addo-Owusu urged corporate bodies to emulate the SIC Life example and make corporate grooming part of its plan.
After the talk, participants had the opportunity to speak to skincare experts to know their skin types and the kinds of body lotions and makeups to use.
