SIC Insurance Plc, Ghana’s largest General Insurance Company, has presented ten laptops with bags to the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho at a ceremony which also was the official handing over of a newly built pergola to serve as a waiting/study and free time relaxation place for students of the University.
The Managing Director of SIC Insurance, Mr. Stephen Oduro, speaking during the donation ceremony said that as a company, support for education is one of their key corporate social responsibility pillars hence, SIC Insurance is in partnership with a number of tertiary institutions to support the work of their administrative staff and the student bodies. He added that his company is working with the University of Health and Allied Sciences to dig boreholes to address the water situation on the main campus of the University.

Mr. Oduro noted that his outfit had to respond swiftly when the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Lydia Aziato, made an appeal in person when she returned a courtesy visit at his office in Accra and shared the many needs of the University.
“These collaborations I believe can drive innovation as well as enrich experiences of students as the University prepares them for the future.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lydia Aziato who received the donation, thanked Mr. Oduro and SIC Insurance for their kind support and hoped that a lot more would be coming from the company in the near future to help the aspirations of the University.

Prof. Lydia Aziato indicated that out of over 13,000 applications, the University could only admit a little over 1,200 students due to the many constraints and challenges of a 10-year-old institution.
She added that the University is inviting partners to help put up hotel facilities to help address the accommodation challenge of the University which is one of the major critical immediate needs.

She said the University in its small way is gradually expanding its facilities from Internally Generated Funds as they look forward to support from their development partners. Also present at the ceremony were the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof Harry Tagbor and Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, Registrar of the University, among other senior members of the University.
