It’s one name that resonates constantly in the Ghanaian music industry – Shatta Wale.
A day hardly goes by without the name of controversial dancehall artiste making into the news.
But what does the name Shatta Wale really mean?
The ‘Kakai’ hitmaker, speaking in an interview with Daniel Dadzie on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, has disclosed the meaning of his name.
According to him, Shatta simply means a serious person while Wale is an abbreviation.
He said WALE means “World Acclaimed Lyrical Entertainer.”
Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. on October 17, 1984, Shatta Wale has risen through the ranks to become one of the country’s prolific artistes.
Formerly known as Bandana, he won the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
