Dancehall act, Shatta Wale, has mixed feelings about the feature of 3 of his songs were featured in the new Spanish film, Black Beach.
The self-acclaimed dancehall king is both excited and dismayed about this new milestone in his career.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he stated that even though the feature is one of the best things to have happened to him, it also shows he is more appreciated abroad than in Ghana.
“My problem is that people do not give me the opportunity to really make the country proud. People expect me to tow a certain path but in actual sense, I have created a path for myself. I have a plan for my future but people do not understand and think I am sleeping in the industry,” he said.
The 'Melissa' hitmaker explained that Ghanaians tend to focus on his negative side while others are more into his comedic stunts.
Shatta Wale said he wants to be seen as a brand that motivates his fans and also work had to make the country proud.
The Dancehall artiste went viral after Black Beach, a thriller movie, adopted his Ayoo, My Level and Mama Stories for their club scenes.
On how he bagged the collaboration, Shatta disclosed that there was a private agreement between his team and the producers.
“So Chris Conney (Shatta’s Public Relations Officer) spoke with them just for them to accept my songs because they initially stated they were looking at mine and other French songs."
"We later realised they registered three, including Mama Stories and I was very excited because that song was deliberately written for my mother,” Shatta disclosed exclusively on Hitz FM.
Black Beach is the second movie to register Shatta Wale’s songs; the first was a 2015 ‘Beast of No Nation’ which had his Everybody Like My Thing as part of its soundtrack.
