Authorities at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) have confirmed turning away non-Ghanaians from coronavirus endemic countries.
This is in compliance with government's Travel Advisory to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
At a press conference on Sunday, after it was disclosed that four more persons have contracted the virus, government through the Information Ministry announced a new Travel Advisory.
The new directive bars non-Ghanaian from entering the country if their country of origin has recorded 200 confirmed cases of the pandemic.
Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company Limited, Yaw Kwakwa, disclosed that authorities at KIA strictly adhered to the order given by government.
"We have turned away some non-Ghanaian passengers from endemic countries who came in today on some airlines just after the directive began"
Mr Kwakwa further explained that the said passengers were on Delta, Emirates and Ethiopian airlines.
For the Ghanaians who disembarked from the same flights, he said they were taken through appropriate screening and advised to undergo 14 days mandatory self-quarantine.
