The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as alarming the recent attacks on people and properties in various parts of the Volta Region.
In a press statement issued by the party and signed by its National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the party said the situation was a poor reflection of the security services and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The NDC believes it is because "while lives have been lost and properties destroyed, the people of Ghana are yet to hear a comment from the President condemning these acts of treason and lawlessness."
The statement by the biggest opposition party in the country follows another attack by the group on Tuesday dawn at the STC yard in Ho where a vehicle was burnt.
The armed men, alleged to be members of the secessionist group also succeeded in beating up a driver at the yard, before chasing out the security man.
The situation has left many worried with some people calling on the state security to expedite swift measures to curb the menace.
But the NDC says there is already evidence to suggest calculated efforts to cause fear and panic in that part of the country.
"We do not want to believe that the inaction of the President and the National Security Council is deliberate and calculated at achieving a sinister political motive including the suppressing of votes in the NDC's stronghold.
"There is already sufficient apprehension caused by these events that suggest the complicity of officialdom to cause fear and human insecurity in that part of the country as a justification for an intimidating security presence; the type which was witnessed during the voter registration exercise only a few months ago," the National Chairman alleged.
Meanwhile, the NDC says it is closely monitoring the security situation along the Eastern Corridor and the country as a whole.
The party, through the statement, called on Ghanaians to rally together to preserve the national unity and stability currently being enjoyed as the country prepares for the 2020 general elections.
