A total of 4,200 security personnel have been deployed to all the 2,240 polling stations in the 22 constituencies in the Western Region for the December 7 elections.
They have been mandated to ensure law and order, security at all polling stations, free franchise, and the safeguarding of the entire electoral process.
The Western Regional Commander of Police, Mr. Mohammed Alhassan, disclosed these to journalists after addressing the security personnel at a parade in Takoradi on Friday.
He reminded the personnel that they were called to national duty and were expected to discharge their responsibilities in a fair, honest and transparent manner.
Mr. Alhassan asked them to be punctual at the polling stations, remain within their designated areas during polling and cautioned them against accepting food or gifts from the people.
Mr. Steve Opoku-Mensah, Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, urged the security personnel to play their roles effectively to safeguard the voting process.
