Kweku Sarbah a 34-year-old security man, was on Tuesday remanded by a circuit court at Cape Coast for allegedly stealing a mobile phone valued at GH¢125.00 belonging to his friend.
He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on December 18, 2007.
Inspector Francis Ackon told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that Sarbah and the complainant, Kobena Baidoo were friends.
Prosecution said on December 3, this year, at about 1130 hours, Baidoo was asleep in his room with his mobile phone lying beside him.
Inspector Ackon said Sarbah went to visit Baidoo and when he was told that complainant was asleep, he entered the room and stole the phone.
Prosecution said when Baidoo woke up, and he could not find his phone, people in his house told him that Sarbah had entered his room while he was asleep.
Complainant called his number and Sarbah answered but later switched off the phone.
Inspector Ackon said Baidoo received information that Sarbah had gone to a friend's house to charge a phone.
Prosecution said the matter was reported to the police and during interrogation Sarbah denied the offence but later paid for the phone.
