The Ashanti New Town District Court in Kumasi has sentenced a second hand cloth dealer to 18 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing two mobile phones.
Ernest Fianku, 30, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Police Sergeant Joseph Sallah told the court that on January 1, one Frank Kumi and Isaac Attipoe gave their mobile phones to Andrews Kyei at Adum to charge the batteries.
He said Fianku, who had then visited Kyei, took advantage of Kyei’s absence to see another visitor off, and stole the phones.
Sergeant Sallah said during a search at the area, Kyei saw the accused crossing a street and raised an alarm and Fianku was arrested. When he was searched the two phones were found.
