A scrap dealer who inflicted wounds on the head of a wielder for touching his girlfriend is in the grips of the Tema Police.
Abubakari Ibrahim, 28, of Ashaiman, became infuriated on seeing the wielder, Moses Antwi, touching his girlfriend and hit him on the head several times with a bottle.
He was remanded into prison custody by a Tema Circuit Court presided over by Justice Nicholas Abodakpi until March 26 when he was arraigned by the court last Wednesday.
Prosecuting, Inspector Ben Agbedanu, told the court that at about 1.30 a.m. on March 7, both Antwi and Ibrahim were at a drinking spot at Community 7.
While there, Ibrahim and his girlfriend took to the floor to dance to music being played, while Antwi went out of the bar to see a friend off.
While returning to the bar, he held Ibrahim’s girlfriend apparently for her to give him way to pass.
Inspector Agbe-danu told the court that Ibrahim took offence and hit the head of Antwi with a bottle that he was holding on the dancing floor, thus inflicting deep wounds on his forehead.
A military officer at the scene arrested Ibrahim and handed him over to the Community 8 Police who detained him.
