Some caterers of the school feeding programme have been sacked country wide, Joy News can confirm.
The latest is the termination of appointments of some eight caterers in Kpando in the Volta Region.
A victim in the Agona District in the Central Region, Hannah Ayison told Joy News their dismissals are politically motivated.
She alleged their contracts have been given to other people perceived to be sympathizers of the ruling National Democratic Congress.
Rather than sacking them, Ayison believed the programme should have been extended to other schools in order for the services of the new caterers to be engaged.
The action, she said has made life unbearable for her, since that was the only means of survival for herself and family.
The School Feeding Programme instituted by the previous government is to provide hot meals to school children as part of an incentive to improve child enrolment in school.
However, there were reports of malfeasance in the implementation of the programme, leading to the sacking of its administrator, Dr. Amoako Tuffuor.
The NDC government after winning power, promised to regularize all operations of the programme and rid it of loopholes for corrupt practices.
The new administrator of the programme, Michael Nsowah was however not available for comment.
