The National under 20 team the Black Satellites shirked off an early scare to humiliate their Angolan counterparts by 5 goals to 1 in their African Youth Championship qualifier played at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Angolans against the run of play, shot ahead in the 12th minute through a rebound connected by lead striker, Mario Kueta to unnerve the satellites, at least for a while.
Two minutes later, the Satellites in a dramatic fashion, pulled even, courtesy a Mohammed Rabiu’s perfect connection to an immaculate cross from David Addy.
Sadiq Adams increased the tally with his blistering free-kick on the urge of the 18 yard box, and set up Ransford Osei who connected with his head for the Satellites third goal.
The Angolans lifted up their game in the closing embers of the first half, but it was Mohammed Ganiyu who deepened their woes with a terrific strike from close range to register the Satellites fourth goal.
The second half was less than impressive, with the Satellites seemingly content with the goal margin, and the Angolans lacking ideas in the final third of their opponents.
In the 63rd minute Mario Kuetta had the greatest opportunity to bring the Angolans back into the game, but with only the goal keeper to beat, he shot feebly into his waiting arms.
When the dust appeared to have settled, Isaac Oduro turned his marker inside out, released Ransford Osei, who cleverly chipped the ball above the goal keeper for his personal second and the Satellites fifth goal.
The results proved decisive for the Satellites who are bent on making an appearance in next years championships after missing out on two previous occasions.
