African U-20 champions, Black Satellites will arrive in Accra on Tuesday after their triumph at the 16th Africa Youth Championships in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Ghana team, who wrapped up the country’s third title at this level with a 2-0 win over Cameroon in the final, would be expecting a warm welcome when they return home.
Ghana last won the Africa Youth Championships in 1999 so naturally the Ghana camp was a happy one after they had beaten Cameroon at the Amahoro.
Coach Sellas Tetteh said his team will expect a warm welcome after entertaining Africa.
“I know Ghana will welcome us. We have entertained Africa with beautiful football, great technique and over all the best all round team. We deserved it seriously,” he told KickOffGhana.com.
The team are likely to head straight to the seat of government to hand over the trophy to President John Evans Attah-Mills.
Ghana were by many people’s account the best side at this tournament. They scored the most goals; eleven in five games and kept clean sheets in three out of their five games.
Ransford Osei took the top scorer honours with seven goals, hitting three braces in the wins over Rwanda and South Africa.
